[Peptides Blog](/) / The reading behind the posts

These are the sources linked in the posts. Each description says what I used it for. A link can help you check a sentence; it doesn’t make a small study bigger.

A medicine’s label describes approved uses and warnings. A trial tests a particular question. A review looks across studies. FDA’s compounding pages explain a different set of questions about ingredients and safety. I read each for the job it can actually do.

## Sources in the posts

- [FDA explains made-to-order medicines](https://www.fda.gov/drugs/human-drug-compounding/compounding-and-fda-questions-and-answers) — Compounded medicines do not carry FDA approval, even when they meet the law.

- [FDA records peptide safety concerns](https://www.fda.gov/drugs/human-drug-compounding/certain-bulk-drug-substances-use-compounding-may-present-significant-safety-risks) — Withdrawn requests and Category 2 are separate tables. Neither is a safety clearance.

- [FDA sets out the ingredient tests](https://www.fda.gov/drugs/human-drug-compounding/bulk-drug-substances-used-compounding-under-section-503a-fdc-act) — Ingredient conditions are one part of the rules for compounding for a named patient.

- [Semaglutide prescribing information](https://dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/drugInfo.cfm?setid=ee06186f-2aa3-4990-a760-757579d8f77b) — Weight-management uses, stomach side effects and serious warnings, including the thyroid warning.

- [Semaglutide in an adult weight trial](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33567185/) — Adults without diabetes lost more weight with semaglutide than placebo, alongside lifestyle support.

- [Tirzepatide prescribing information](https://dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/drugInfo.cfm?setid=487cd7e7-434c-4925-99fa-aa80b1cc776b) — Weight-management uses and warnings for tirzepatide. It acts on two gut-hormone targets.

- [Continuing or withdrawing tirzepatide](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38078870/) — Participants who switched to placebo regained weight; those continuing tirzepatide lost more.

- [Copper peptide in skin-cell cultures](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/3169264/) — More collagen in cells in a dish, rather than a test of face cream.

- [Copper-peptide care after laser treatment](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/16847171/) — After laser treatment, the small trial found no clear group difference in redness or wrinkles, but satisfaction was higher with copper-peptide care.

- [Copper peptide after rat ligament surgery](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/25731775/) — Knee looseness briefly improved in rats; the study could not show a clear difference in walking or the repaired ligament’s breaking strength.

- [FDA explains the cosmetic boundary](https://www.fda.gov/cosmetics/cosmetics-laws-regulations/fda-authority-over-cosmetics-how-cosmetics-are-not-fda-approved-are-fda-regulated) — Intended uses help determine whether a product is a cosmetic or a drug.

- [An oral NAD+ precursor trial](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31278280/) — Nicotinamide riboside raised blood NAD+. That measurement does not establish an everyday energy benefit.

- [Human evidence for NAD+ precursors](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/41083806/) — Human precursor studies show limited evidence of health benefits, despite promising biology.

- [FDA’s determination on old sermorelin products](https://www.federalregister.gov/d/2013-04827) — FDA found the old products had not left sale for safety or effectiveness reasons.

- [A small study in older men](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/9005976/) — Growth hormone rose; measured muscle and fat didn’t change. Some performance tests improved.

- [A review of childhood sermorelin use](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/18031173/) — Older, mainly childhood evidence includes flushing and injection-site pain. Adult safety remains uncertain.

- [A small selank anxiety comparison](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/18454096/) — Compared selank with another medicine. The abstract describes no group without active treatment.

- [Kisspeptin and low sexual desire](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/36735255/) — Short exposure to kisspeptin-54 changed sexual-response measures. It did not test lasting treatment.

- [Kisspeptin’s investigational clinical status](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38265397/) — A review of human research on kisspeptin, which still has no approved product.
